does it snow much up there?
if so, high off the ground when the snow melts, so less chance of flooding.
plenty of space to work on a car undercover during the warmer months if nothing else.

It snows but not that much.

Covered parking, also storage for boats/canoes.

Or lots of water, similar to Hilton head. All the first floors are garages.

Average is 37in (94cm). It’s been quite a bit less this year. Those are all fair points, though I’d hate to think of the winter heating bill with those suspended rooms (unless it is very well insulated).

Could you imagine what would happen if you went over that garage with a black light?

heating bill would suck, unless central wood fire perhaps?

I like it. I don’t much care for people being able to wander up and take a look inside my windows. I’d probably want to remove the steps going up to the deck to further that end. Not so sure about the garage and pool room/den being in outbuildings, but I guess its fine for a vacation home. Only thing about a raised home is frozen pipes in the winter.

Is it in a flood prone area?

I mean, there is water around, but I wouldn’t exactly call it Hilton Head...

Privacy-wise it does seem quite nice. Frozen pipes would definitely be a concern. My grandparents had an 1800s farm house with indoor plumbing added much later - the main run to the drain-field was on the exterior wall of the house and poorly insulated. At any temperature below ~20 F you needed to be really careful about how you used the plumbing...

There are fireplaces, but its listed as primarily electric heat.

That den is fantastic, I’d probably just live in there TBH. Use the house to store my stuff.

There is definitely water around, though I don’t really recall the area being particularly flood prone.

Technically I don’t think you’d be allowed to remove the stairs. Building codes require two exits to all houses/apartments
in case one becomes unusable in a fire/emergency.

Not gonna lie, I kinda like it

OK, I actually sortof like that....frozen pipes wouldn’t be an issue as I imagine they are going through that likely fairly well-insulated middle section that does go down to the ground.

It’s like mid-century modern crossed with summer camp bunks.

Probably so. I’d at least put a gate and latch at the bottom. Bears and such.

Nice and zombie proof.

I’m warming up to it; 0.45 acres helps, too. The only big negative in my eyes is that it is electric heat...

Now that’s perfectly reasonable

That certainly seems like a unique way to get a couple car ports.

Y eah me too, i like unusual architecture .

Yeah...put in some heat pumps maybe? The w
ood stove it has
would help too!

I’d do a concrete pad under each over- hang. Either add to the interior space or make 2 garages... I’d probably just extend the one side until it connected to that other building side garage.

Heating that would suck. All that cold air flowing under the floors
